Less talking, more trying.

The situation.

VU and VIVES wanted to give students and lecturers something practical to work with. The conditions are the same everywhere in education: little room in the curriculum, broad and mixed groups, and a huge amount of curiosity. The question was not whether AI is relevant to their programs. That question had already been asked and answered. The question was: how?

What we found.

Lecture halls full of questions. Nobody needed convincing that it can be done. They wanted to see what works, and just as much where it goes wrong.

Our approach.

For each program we picked examples that fit the field and the level. A business student and a nursing student get nothing out of the same example.

• Live demos, so you see what really happens and not just the end result
• Five-minute mini exercises where students do it themselves
• Realistic dos and don'ts, including the things that don't work

We left behind material a lecturer can use straight away: slides, a short list of sources and exercises that can be run again in a next class.

How it landed.

One student got to work on a mini case with their own data. Within a few minutes the whole room could see where this makes sense and where it doesn't.

What it delivered.

More understanding and, more importantly, an appetite to get started. Lecturers took examples into their own courses and projects. It didn't stop at listening.
